Pet Healthcare

Pet healthcare is a social issue that isn’t payed much attention to or is seen as something unimportant. Why? Well, because to many people pets are seen as an object that they own. Just like furniture, electronics, cars, and many other objects, pets are just seen as belongings. What they don’t realize is that pets are like babies. Pets have to be taken care of, fed, cleaned and much more. I chose pet healthcare for this social issue project to bring awareness. Many people have pets and don’t understand the responsibility of owning a pet. Pets have to be taken to the clinic for vaccines, routine physical exams, dental cleanings and much more.

The following list shows a few social media links I created to spread awareness on pet healthcare.

I also did a survey to see how aware pet parents are of their pet’s healthcare needs. Based on the results, the majority of pet parents do take their pets for routine physical exams at least once a year which is good news. Most pet parents do have their pets on heartworm and flea prevention. Most pet parents have neutered or spayed their pets. Most of them take their pets for dental cleanings at least once a year. And finally, most pet parents have their pets up to date on vaccines. The only flaw in this survey is that most of the pet parents who filled out the survey are co-workers who work in veterinary medicine. They understand the importance of healthcare. Although I did have a pet parent who isn’t in the veterinary field and felt as if he were a bad pet parent after filling out the survey.
